For our line drawings I drew a bird. Bird just looks like it's standing up staring. My media for my drawing was a pencil. One skill I used in this drawing was value. I used value to show the viewers that by using overlap and darker lines I could transform form into shape and show space. The drawing wouldn't be possible without using line because it's made of lines. I tried using color and texture to show where the bird was facing by creating shade. When I see my drawing I get the feeling of a looming darkness, a bad omen, and I remember the raven that constantly says "Nevermore" in the narrative poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe.
My object was two connected swirling squares. Swirling squares look like one of those things that hypnotists use to hypnotize people. The media of this drawing was a pencil. Through this project I learned to use the art elements such as lines, value, and shape. Using lines I was able to draw the squares, and with value I was able to show weather the square was getting closer or further away. By imagining the form of the swirling squares I was able to transform it into a shape drawing. Using space I created little zero area in the drawing itself but lots outside of the squares. The colors I used was a black/gray tipped pencil for the drawing on the background of white paper. I tried using texture at the same time of value, lightly sketching outside lines to give it texture and on the inside smooth dark lines. The squares swirl forever and ever, never stopping, into the void and darkness.
